For the second year in a row the Bruins are on pace to blow a 3-1 series lead in round 1 of the Playoffs. Last year was inexcusable after setting the all time record for regular season points. This year the expecations are lower, but the failure just as bad. The unbelievably piss poor play from this team in games 5 and 6 is laughable. They have six shots on goal combined in the 1st periods of these games. In the minimal chances they have created late in game, everyone seems to come down with Tight Tuukka Butt Hole Syndrome.
But, there is one man. One player who has both been a part of the disappearing act and fails even to attempt a tight butthole scenario. David Pastrnak. The 27 year old Right Wing earning $11 million this year scored 47 goals and accumulated 110 points this regular season as a +21 player. Through six games this post season Pastrnak has totaled four points with 2 goals and 2 assists. He is a -1 and I’ll add a complete fucking zero when needed most. He’s a walking turnover in the nuetral zone and a stumbling baby Giraffe on the forecheck.
Pastrnak is not a playoff performer. His game is not built for it. In order for Pastrnak to perform he needs to be surrounded by excellent talent. In his career he’s exactly a point a game player with 83 in 83 games and +1 overall. The stats just dont tell the whole story. He has never been and is not still a player that elevates others. He’s an excellent scorer in space. Thats the skill set. Stick to it. Regardless, on a team like the Bruins this year it’s not enough. When you have 8 and 12 minute droughts where they can’t even get a shot on net, you need your $11 million dollar super star to make great plays at important times. Just listen to Jim Montgomery.
Look, it’s just as likely that Toronto leaf’s this thing up and blows game 7. I just would not put any money on David Pastrnak being a major contributor in a Boston victory based on his body of work in the post season when he’s needed most.
