Red Sox 12 vs. Mets 5

7 in a row

Chris Sale 5 innings 2 ER 8 SO
Kyle Shwarber 2 HRs 3 RBIsGorgeous double play by Iglesias - It's a crime he can't play in the playoffs - Triple inside the park HR w. error. RBI * You can't take Kike out of CF. He's too good and the other options are not good enough. * Arroyo couldnt turn the double play to end the game. Meant nothing this time but that's your 2B in the playoffs. * Red Sox could have upgraded with Iglesias via a minor trade and failed to do so.
Wild card - 2 games up on Yankees2.5 games up on Blue Jays4.5 up on Mariners and 5.5 up on A's

Bill's take - Were the Red Sox smart for not spending big at the deadline given their recent play?
- No. It wasn't about spending big, but spending smart. They needed help and Chris Sale and Schwarber didn't play for 2 plus weeks after the deadline it cost you the division. You are 6 games back. You lost those 6 games at the deadline. It's directly tied to that time of the season.
- The hansel and gretel move was a salary move to stay under the tax. - We are seeing in iglesias what the right player in the right spot can give you - Schwarber is a lineup headache as good as his bat has been, it's a tough fit. Asking him to play 1st base is ludacris. - they got lucky with Bobby D. The dude is 26. He has never shown an ability to hit for average or clutch and he miraculously figured it out for the past month and 1/2. That's either luck or lack of giving a shit by management.
- Bottom line they did not invest in this team because they didn't believe they were worth it and it was not on the time line. The roster is proving them wrong. Red Sox should have done more at the deadline. If they did the world series would be a legit consideration for this team. No guarantees next year they will be better or their competition will remain as bad as it is. Red Sox vs Yankees start Friday

The Brady vs Belichick stuff is gone beyond petty. Brady is coming off like a passive agressive dickhead.
Brady Sr. spouting off that Brady is vindicated for leaving

“pretty obvious that the Patriots regime felt it was time for him to move on.”

Guerrero with a more subtle interview with the Herald “The interesting thing I think there — and this is just me, an outsider looking in — it was like Bill never really … I think his emotions or feelings never evolved with age,” Guerrero said. “I think in time, with Tom, as Tom got into his late 30s or early 40s, I think Bill was still trying to treat him like that 20-year-old kid that he drafted. And all the players, I think, realized Tom was different.

“He’s older, so he should be treated differently. And all the players, none of them would have cared that he was treated differently. I think that was such a Bill thing. He never evolved. So you can’t treat someone who’s in his 40s like they’re 20. It doesn’t work.”

I go back to the Tom vs Time. And Palace Cue.

- Brady did get special treatment. He opened a business on the fucking teams land. He was basically running a conflicting strength and conditioning program

- Beyond that what made Brady so great forever is that he did need or want special treatment. What special treatment is he taking in Tampa? They let him call the plays? They need him to call the plays.

- This was a power struggle on both sides

- 2017 in that drama movie he said he wasn't sure if it was worth it to keep playing but in the same breath expected a 3 year extension after bullying Garoppolo out the door.

- Yes, Belichick was a dick I'm sure. There are coaches and there are players. I don't blame Belichick for wanting to maintain that hierarchy.

* The contract was the sticking point.

- Not a chance an organization like the Bucs and Arians maintain a level of success with no hierarchy. They are riding high with Brady. that's a short shelf life.

*Patriots vs. Saints

RUN DEFENSE

- Alvin Kamara could go for 1,000 yards.

* Does Bill stack the box every single play and make Jameis beat him?

- How many INTs for Winston if thats the game plan?

- Can the Pats offense keep up?

* The progression for Mac Jones and this offense needs to be linear all season.

Linear means straight ray. Not curved...

- Thats not generally what rookies do. Can Mac do it?

Predictions

3 min Bruins

Bruins pre season kicks off Sunday vs Caps

- Doesn't this team feel incomplete?

- currently only 1.6 million in cap space. I thought for sure there was another move coming.

Jack Eichel. - Failed physical. Stripped of Captain. Absolute debacle in Buffalo.

- DeBrusk, Coyle, 1st rounder, and mid prospect. Do you do it?

3 min Celtics

Jaylen Brown interview:

“Mostly just trying to heal, and playmaking is one thing,” Brown told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears.

“I’ll definitely be more of a playmaker this season, for sure. Just making the right plays and empowering my teammates. I just want to win games, man. So, every year I just approach the season as just trying to get better. My body feels a lot better. I’m more athletic than I was last season. I had knee problems last year that were lingering and I hope that I won’t have this season. Somebody told me I had 12, probably like, 15 dunks in 58 games, or something like that. I’m like, ‘That’s not me.’ So, getting back to being athletic, running, just going having fun, being a playmaker, and having more responsibility. Different coach, so I’m looking forward to that journey and that process as well

“Just to play basketball, have fun and play. You just got to play the games. That’s it. No pressure,” Brown told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears when asked about his expectations for Boston this season. “No offense, but keep the media (noise) out the locker room, just focus on the game. I think sometimes, especially depending on the market, you start to say things in the media, and then things start to snowball in terms of internal issues become blown out of proportion. And it could be something small that can be resolved, but if the media takes it, then everybody’s going to be upset about it because now they got to answer for it. Coaches got to reply to it. We come to practice, we got to answer to it.”
Jaylen is the leader of this team. Marcus Smart is still an impediment to that. Can Ime fix it?
