What if I told you Pop Douglas won’t be what you think he is?

News out of Patriots camp is that Demario “Pop” Douglas looks like the team’s number one wide receiver. And right away—yeah, that’s not good news.

Stefon Diggs is supposed to be the number one. I doubted him at first because of his age and injuries, but all of you told me I was wrong, so fine—I’ll shut up if you shut up. Problem is, Douglas supposedly outplayed a “100% healthy” Diggs. That alone is a red flag.

But here’s the real issue: Douglas won’t actually be the number one. Call it a prediction. Call it evidence, history, gut instinct—I just don’t think he’s got it. Or maybe it’s him and his quarterback both not getting it. Either way, I don’t see it clicking.

Some guys look like playmakers. They pop (pun intended) on film and in camp, but when the real games start? Nothing. I think that’s Pop Douglas.

Maybe the game speed will be too fast. Maybe he won’t see the field. Maybe his instincts won’t cover for his lack of size. Maybe it’s because he’s already had to navigate too many systems and bad coaches. I can’t fully explain why—but I know it’s true.

Just saying.

Want me to punch it up even more—like a rant with shorter, snappier lines, almost tweet-style?
