Dear Diary, are the Patriots the only team that actually gives a shit about the running game anymore?
- Zeke Elliot excited to be in New England because they care so much about the running game and running backs - in and era where the running game and running backs couldn't mean less
On Wednesday morning, the Patriots posted a 1-on-1 interview with Elliott on social media. In the interview, Elliott revealed what ultimately attracted him to New England.
"Just the importance of the back in this offense," Elliott said. "This is definitely a team that wants to run the ball, wants to be balanced."
"I think I've been getting along well with the team," Elliott said. "I've known Rhamondre for a couple years, and so it's nice having him in the running back room. I think I've been a good fit and I'm having fun."
Additionally, Elliott has quickly formed a strong relationship with quarterback Mac Jones. The two players had dinner together when Elliott visited the Patriots in late July, and they are continuing to bond now that Elliott has officially signed.
"Mac, he's a pro. He does everything like a pro," Elliott said. "I could tell just from going to dinner with him on my visit, and he's a great leader."
