The Red Sox need to be Vrabel’d
I've said this before, but what we’re witnessing from the Boston Red Sox is the result of half a decade of intentionally sucking.
When you let your standards slide, this is what it looks like—even when you're allegedly trying to "turn things around." The nerds running the show don’t believe in things like clutch, grit, or apparently even culture. But those are real. These are very real human beings. And from the looks of it, very real giant pussy human beings who don’t give a shit, worship shit, don’t know how to give a shit, and definitely don’t understand what it takes to win.
It’s not that they don’t want to win. Everybody “wants to win.” The question is: do you know what it actually takes to do it, and are you willing to commit, sacrifice, and work your ass off?
People love blaming this crap on a Gen Z mentality, but I don’t think that’s it. There are successful franchises all over the world led by 22-year-olds. No, this is what happens when you spend five years letting your team underachieve and suck on purpose, all because you thought it'd be better to pinch pennies and buy a hockey team than to actually field a competitive baseball roster.
They need to blow out nearly every ounce of leadership that’s been around for the past few years—including Rafael Devers.
Yeah, you’ve got some young talent in Mayer, Anthony, Rafaela, and Campbell. But guess what? That losing habit sinks in quick. Look at what Vrabel did when he came into New England—even the players everyone liked and respected got booted, because once the stench of suck settles in, it’s damn near impossible to wash out.
Time to brace for another faceplant as a Red Sox fan. Blow out your top guys, get what you can in return, and actually—truly—rebuild this franchise.
